Green ICT Application Challenge

What is the Challenge about?

ITU and Telefonica are organizing the 2nd Green ICT Application Challenge to find the best and most innovative Concept Paper for an ICT application to help promote Sustainable Energy for All.

Below are some ideas for topic areas, but these are simply suggestions and should not limit your imagination:

  • Energy efficiency: in sectors such as smart buildings, intelligent transport systems, smart homes, etc.
  • Access to Energy: smart metering, energy billing systems, energy management, etc.
  • Renewable Energy: smart grids, renewable energy potential, electric vehicles, etc.

Call for Concept Papers

2012 is the “International Year for Sustainable Energy for Allâ€.

With innovations such as smart grids, smart metering, smart billing and electro-mobility, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are transforming global energy distribution. ICT gives us control over how much we consume at a personal level and allows utilities to better integrate renewable energy sources and reduce wastage.

New developments seek to enhance existing processes, enabling new ways of working and transforming behavior to help create a lower-carbon economy which will be crucial if we are to meet the Millennium Development Goals.

Enter the 2nd Green ICT Application Challenge by sending us a Concept Paper which includes the design of an application that will build on these exciting innovations and help to enable Sustainable Energy for All.
